Athletics

Leadership & sacrifice,
learned on team buses.

Leadership and sacrifice didn't come from books. They came from locker rooms, team buses, and 6 a.m. practices.

2008 — 2022

Soccer

Club + varsity

Eleven people have to be wrong about the same thing at the same time to lose. Most problems are coordination problems.

2016 — 2022

Lacrosse

Varsity captain

Captaincy isn't the loudest voice in the locker room. It's the person the locker room watches when things are quiet.

2012 — Present

Snowboarding

Commit to the edge. You hesitate mid-turn, you eat snow. Same in a pitch meeting.

2014 — Present

Tennis

You play who's across the net, not the scoreboard. Everything you need is the next point.

What the locker room taught me

You can't fake
being the person
your team looks at when it's quiet.

Leadership isn't charisma. It's the composure your team sees when the score is bad and the bus is silent. I learned how to be that person before I ever ran a company. I think about it every day I walk into Ping.
